Sisterhood is now selling MICHAEL ARAM
Michael Aram is an internationally renowned designer who has lived and worked in India since 1989. Trained as a painter, sculptor and art historian, Aram has neatly applied his diverse background to the decorative arts. Lyrical and ofter witty, his work encompasses a wide range of media and reveals a rich and variant source of inspiration-nature, mythology, narrative storytelling, and purified form. Aram’s work is also a celebration of craft and age-old hand-working traditions. It is the enduring fusion of these ideals – originality, storyline and craftsmanship-that has become the hallmark of this gifted artist.
Sisterhood will be holding its annual Passover Boutique in the Chai Gym on Tuesday, April 5th, from 9:30 – 3 and 6 – 8, and Wednesday, April 6th from 9 – 3 and 4:15 – 6:15. Set up is Monday April 4th at 10 AM. If you would like to help out in the boutique, please email drruth727@aol.com or call 732-616-7733 to let us know what hours you can work. We have lots of new merchandise including Michael Aram, Rite Lite, Israel Giftware Designs, and AlephBet by Paula as well as many items on clearance sale.
A very special event will be happening on Wednesday, the 6th from 4:15 – 6:15 as we will have author S. Daniel Guttman reading his new book The Passover Zoo Seder to the Hebrew School children and autographing the books that are purchased. The book signing is open to all. The Passover Zoo Seder is written in rhymed couplets and is fun and funny as well as instructive. It is a great Passover gift and an ideal Afikoman ransom. If you would like to pre-order a book, please contact Ruth at drruth727@aol.com. The cost of the book is $16.99.
In addition to the Passover Boutique, the “Chocolate Seder” is planned for Tuesday, April 12th from
8 – 9:30 PM – just in time for dessert! It promises to be a lot of fun as we read the Chocolate Hagaddah, drink chocolate milk and/or liquor, break the chocolate matzah, and recite the blessings for sweet treats. Open to Sisterhood members and non-members. We need volunteers to read from the Hagaddah and help shop for the food. Please email drruth727@aol.com or call 732-616-7733 ASAP if you can attend a meeting on Monday, March 28th at 12 PM to discuss the Chocolate Seder in the main building of synagogue.
It is also time to start thinking of “next year” which begins on July 1, 2011. If you are interested in becoming an officer of Sisterhood, please notify Ruth at drruth727@aol.com or Myriam at jkmazal@aol.com . All of the positions are available for a one year term: President, Treasurer, Membership, Recording/Corresponding Secretary, Boutique, Trees.
